Need Your Prescription Returned? | McKeevers Chemists
Prescription return information

Need your prescription returned to you?

We understand that there may be times when you would prefer your original prescription to be returned to you. This may be with your next medication order, or at a later stage if you decide that you would like to keep the prescription at home.

Where possible, McKeevers Chemists can help facilitate the return of your prescription. The best option depends on whether you are currently placing an order, already have a prepaid returns label, or need to purchase a DPD return label.

Choose an option

How would you like your prescription returned?

There are three ways to request the return of an original prescription, depending on your situation.

No extra cost

Request return with your next order

If you are placing a new order with McKeevers Chemists, you can request for your original prescription to be returned with that order.

Please add your request in the prescription notes or order notes section when completing your order form.

There is no extra return label charge for this option, because the prescription can be included with your medication order where appropriate.

Provide your own returns label

If you already have a returns label, please email our prescription query team and provide the details needed to identify your prescription.

Please email:

Please include:

  • the full name shown on the prescription
  • the full address shown on the prescription
  • the prescription issue date
  • a prepaid returns label

Purchase a DPD return label

If you would prefer, you can complete our online prescription return form and purchase a DPD return label.

Once your form has been completed and payment has been received, the pharmacy will receive your request and return your prescription using the DPD label created through the form.

The pharmacy will retrieve the relevant prescription or prescriptions and return them to you as soon as reasonably possible.

Important: fully dispensed prescriptions

Please be aware that where a prescription has been fully dispensed, the pharmacy may need to retain the original prescription record and it may not be available to return.

If your prescription still has further dispensing(s) remaining, or if the pharmacy is able to return the prescription, our team will process the request as soon as reasonably possible.

How it works

Returning your prescription

Choose the most suitable return option

If you are already placing an order, the simplest option is to request the prescription return in the prescription/order notes. If you are not placing an order, you can either provide your own prepaid returns label or purchase a DPD return label through our online form.

Provide the prescription details

Please provide the full name and address shown on the prescription, along with the prescription issue date. This helps our team identify the correct prescription safely.

Tell us where the prescription should be returned

If you use the online DPD form, you will be asked to provide the return address and to confirm whether this matches the address shown on the prescription.

Complete the declaration

If you use the online form, you will be asked to confirm that you give permission for your prescription to be returned by DPD and that the details you have provided are accurate.

Make payment if a DPD return label is needed

If you request a standalone DPD return label, you will be taken to checkout to purchase the return label. If your prescription is being returned with your medication order, there is no separate DPD return label charge.

Pharmacy retrieves your prescription where possible

Once the request has been received, the pharmacy team will check whether the original prescription can be returned and retrieve the relevant prescription or prescriptions where appropriate.

Your prescription is returned

If it is being returned with your order, it will be included with your medication where appropriate. If you have purchased or provided a return label, the pharmacy will apply the label and hand the prescription to the postal or courier service.

Returning with an order

When placing an order, you can add a request in the prescription notes or order notes asking for your original prescription to be returned with your medication.

This option is only suitable where you are already placing an order and where the pharmacy is able to return the original prescription.

If the prescription cannot be returned, for example because it has been fully dispensed and needs to be retained by the pharmacy, our team will not include it with the order.

Important responsibility information

McKeevers Chemists will take reasonable care to identify and prepare the relevant prescription for return where it is appropriate to do so.

Once the prescription has been handed over to DPD or another postal/courier service, McKeevers Chemists cannot be held responsible for delays, loss, damage, delivery issues, or any issue that occurs while the prescription is in transit.

Before submitting a request

Please ensure the name, address and prescription issue date you provide are accurate. Incorrect details may delay the pharmacy being able to identify and return the prescription.

If you are unsure of the prescription issue date, please provide as much information as possible in your email or in the notes section of the online form.

Which option should I choose?

  • Placing an order now? Add a request in the prescription/order notes.
  • Have your own prepaid label? Email it to our prescription query team with the prescription details.
  • Need us to create a DPD label? Complete the online DPD prescription return form.

Request your prescription return

Option 1: If you are placing an order, request the prescription return in the prescription notes/order notes section. There is no extra return label charge for this option where the prescription can be returned with the order.

Option 2: Email [email protected] with your own prepaid returns label and prescription details.

Option 3: Complete the online form and purchase a DPD return label. Once payment is complete, the pharmacy will receive your request.
